--- abstract: 'This is a project on Artificial Life where we simulate an ecosystem that allows cooperative interaction between agents, including intra-specific predator-warning communication in a virtual environment of predatory events. We propose, based on Peircean semiotics and informed by neuroethological constraints, an experiment to simulate the emergence of symbolic communication among artificial creatures. Here we describe the simulation environment and the creaturesrsquo control architectures, and briefly present obtained results.' altloc: - http://www.dca.fee.unicamp.br/projects/artcog/art.htm chapter: ~ commentary: ~ commref: ~ confdates: 'September 29 - October 1, 2004' conference: "XVII Brazilian Symposium on Artificial Intelligence - SBIA'04" confloc: 'São Luís, Maranhão - Brazil' contact_email: ~ creators_id: [] creators_name: - family: Loula given: Angelo honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Gudwin given: Ricardo honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Queiroz given: João honourific: '' lineage: '' date: 2004 date_type: published datestamp: 2005-08-20 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/45/07 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: ~ edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: [] editors_name: [] eprint_status: archive eprintid: 4507 fileinfo: /style/images/fileicons/application_pdf.png;/4507/1/Loula%2Bet%2Bal%2D%2D2004%2D%2DSymbolic%2DCommunication%2Din%2DArtificial%2DCreatures.pdf full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: pub issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: 0 item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: 'symbol, communication, artificial life, semiotics, C.S.Peirce' lastmod: 2011-03-11 08:56:09 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: ~ number: ~ pagerange: ~ pubdom: TRUE publication: ~ publisher: ~ refereed: TRUE referencetext: |- Peirce, C.S.
