--- abstract: |- A descriptive KAP study about smoking was conducted in all the ten secondary schools in Hadramout coastal districts during October 2004 – April 2005 and a total of 317 teachers were enrolled in the study (182 male, 135 female teachers). The findings revealed that about 8% of the teachers were smokers; all smokers were males (prevalence 14%). Only 10% of teachers had received training to limit smoking among students, and 27% had educational materials about harmful effects of smoking. The study concluded that low smoking prevalence, good knowledge and attitudes of teachers, especially female teachers, toward smoking may offer a chance for smoking prevention strategies in secondary schools. altloc: - http://www.ojhas.org/issue18/2006-2-1.htm chapter: ~ commentary: ~ commref: ~ confdates: ~ conference: ~ confloc: ~ contact_email: ~ creators_id: - Bin Ghouth AS - Bahaj AA creators_name: - family: Bin Ghouth given: Abdulla honourific: '' lineage: Salim - family: Bahaj given: Ahmed honourific: '' lineage: Ali date: 2006-09 date_type: published datestamp: 2006-09-25 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/51/65 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: ~ edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: - Kakkilaya BS - Baliga BS editors_name: - family: Kakkilaya given: Srinivas honourific: Dr. lineage: Bevinje - family: Baliga given: Shatharam honourific: Dr. lineage: B eprint_status: archive eprintid: 5165 fileinfo: /style/images/fileicons/application_pdf.png;/5165/1/2006%2D2%2D1.pdf full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: pub issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: 0 item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: 'Smoking, Secondary school' lastmod: 2011-03-11 08:56:36 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: ~ number: 2 pagerange: ~ pubdom: TRUE publication: Online Journal Of Health And Allied Sciences publisher: Dr. B.S.
