--- abstract: "In the 19th century, \"Psychophysical Parallelism\" was the most popular solution of the mind-body problem among physiologists, psychologists and philosophers. (This is not to be mixed up with Leibnizian and other cases of \"Cartesian\" parallelism.) The fate of this non-Cartesian view, as founded by Gustav Theodor Fechner, is reviewed. It is shown that Feigl's \"identity theory\" eventually goes back to Alois Riehl who promoted a hybrid version of psychophysical parallelism and Kantian mind-body theory which was taken up by Feigl's teacher Moritz Schlick.." altloc: - http://www.uni-tuebingen.de/philosophie/heidelberger/the_mind-body.pdf chapter: ~ commentary: ~ commref: ~ confdates: ~ conference: ~ confloc: ~ contact_email: ~ creators_id: [] creators_name: - family: Heidelberger given: Michael honourific: '' lineage: '' date: 2003 date_type: published datestamp: 2007-07-14 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/56/00 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: ~ edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: [] editors_name: - family: Parrini given: Paolo honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Salmon given: Wesley C. honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Salmon given: Merrillee H. honourific: '' lineage: '' eprint_status: archive eprintid: 5600 fileinfo: /style/images/fileicons/application_pdf.png;/5600/1/Mind%2DBody_Theory_in_the_Origin_of_Logical_Empiricism.pdf full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: pub issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: 0 item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: 'mind-body problem, psychophysical parallelism, double-aspect theory, identity theory, logical empiricism, dualism, Cartesianism, psychophysics, neural correlate, Herbert Feigl' lastmod: 2011-03-11 08:56:53 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: ~ number: ~ pagerange: 233-262 pubdom: FALSE publication: 'Logical Empiricism: Historical and Contemporary Perspectives' publisher: University of Pittsburgh Press refereed: TRUE referencetext: ~ relation_type: [] relation_uri: [] reportno: ~ rev_number: 12 series: ~ source: ~ status_changed: 2007-09-12 17:10:55 subjects: - psy-phys - phil-mind - phil-sci - phil-epist succeeds: ~ suggestions: ~ sword_depositor: ~ sword_slug: ~ thesistype: ~ title: |- The Mind-Body Problem in the Origin of Logical Empiricism: Herbert Feigl and Psychophysical Parallelism type: bookchapter userid: 7109 volume: ~
