--- abstract: 'This study examined habituation of the predator inspection behavior in the guppy (Poecilia reticulata) and its relationship with boldness (open field locomotion). Two different strategies were discovered: (1) initial inspection of a predator-like fish, correlated with boldness; (2) subsequent surveillance, governed by a random underlying process and unrelated with boldness. The surveillance inspection is probably linked with anti-predator vigilance. Possible implications to between-population variation in inspection behavior are discussed.' altloc: [] chapter: ~ commentary: ~ commref: ~ confdates: ~ conference: ~ confloc: ~ contact_email: ~ creators_id: [] creators_name: - family: Budaev given: Sergey honourific: Dr. lineage: '' date: 2003 date_type: published datestamp: 2007-12-19 03:04:07 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/58/78 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: ~ edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: [] editors_name: [] eprint_status: archive eprintid: 5878 fileinfo: /style/images/fileicons/application_pdf.png;/5878/1/budaev%2Dguppy%2Dinspect%2D2003.pdf|/style/images/fileicons/text_plain.png;/5878/2/budaev%2Dguppy%2Dinspect%2D2003.utf8.txt full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: pub issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: 0 item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: ~ lastmod: 2011-03-11 08:57:02 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: ~ number: Supple pagerange: S243-S247 pubdom: FALSE publication: Journal of Ichthyology publisher: MAIK Nauka/ Interperiodika refereed: TRUE referencetext: "Altbacker, V. and Csanyi, V., The Role of Eyespots in Predator Recognition and Antipredator Behaviour of the Paradise Fish Macropodus opercularis L.
