N2 - Learning from experiences is the fundamental process of case-based reasoning. Taking case-based reasoning seriously as a cognitive model implies that experiences play a fundamental role in human learning as well. This has important effects on what and how to teach. This chapter examines the types of knowledge acquired from experiences. Based on this analysis, it argues for a new approach to education in which case acquisition plays a central role.
