abstract: 'An implementation of an autonomous resource-bound agent able to operate in a simulated dynamic and complex domain is described. The agent, called MINDER1, is a partial realisation of an architecture for motive processing and attention. It is shown that a global processing state, called perturbance, can emerge from interactions of subcomponents of the architecture. Perturbant states are characteristic features of many states that are commonly called emotional. The agent is compared to other computer simulations of emotional phenomena.'
