--- abstract: The anaesthetic laryngoscope Airtraq is designed for the difficult airway. This disposable laryngoscope requires minimal cervical manipulation and unlike other common anaesthetic larynmgoscopes contains a channel for the guidance of an endotracheal tube. This could also be used for diagnosis and biopsy under a general anaesthetic or potentially under a local anaesthetic in an outpatient setting for biopsies or the removal of hypopharyngeal foreign bodies via flexible biopsy forceps obviating the need for a general anaesthetic. Thus Airtraq could be included in the armoury of pre-existing direct laryngoscopes because of its virtue of minimal airway manipulation. altloc: - http://www.ojhas.org/issue38/2011-2-16.htm chapter: ~ commentary: ~ commref: ~ confdates: ~ conference: ~ confloc: ~ contact_email: ~ creators_id: - dulanimendis@yahoo.com - ~ creators_name: - family: Mendis given: 'D ' honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Oates given: J honourific: '' lineage: '' date: 2011-07-30 date_type: published datestamp: 2012-11-09 17:37:20 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/79/73 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: 0 edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: - BS Kakkilaya editors_name: - family: Kakkilaya given: Srinivas honourific: Dr lineage: ~ eprint_status: archive eprintid: 7973 fileinfo: application/pdf;http://cogprints.org/7973/1/2011%2D2%2D16.pdf full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: pub issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: ~ item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: Difficult intubation; Laryngoscopy lastmod: 2012-11-09 17:37:20 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: ~ number: 2 pagerange: ~ pubdom: TRUE publication: Online Journal of Health and Allied Sciences publisher: BS Kakkilaya refereed: TRUE referencetext: "1.\tAmerican Society of Anesthesiologists.
