--- abstract: 'Purpose: To assess the status of growth monitoring activities and difficulties faced by anganwadi workers (AWWs) at the anganwadi centres (AWCs). Methodology: A survey was conducted among AWWs under a rural Primary Health Centre. Structured observations on weight measurement were made using a check list. Secondary data on record keeping and maintenance was collected. Findings: Study participants (n=20) had a 24 (± 10.25) years of experience in Integrated Child Development Services and underwent training once in two years. For advising mothers of malnourished children, deworming and immunization was not mentioned by majority AWWs. In AWCs, children less than 6 month were weighed on bathroom scale and not by Salter’s scale. Unclothing the child before weighing was practiced by only 10% AWWs. Nonfunctional weighing machine was the major problem reported by AWWs. Conclusion: There were gaps in the growth monitoring activities in AWCs of a PHC, Thirubhuvanai which needs to be tackled.' altloc: - http://www.ojhas.org/issue46/2013-2-2.html chapter: ~ commentary: ~ commref: ~ confdates: ~ conference: ~ confloc: ~ contact_email: ~ creators_id: - ~ - drarunghorpade@gmail.com - ~ - ~ creators_name: - family: Gurukartick given: J honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Ghorpade given: AG honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Thamizharasi given: A honourific: '' lineage: '' - family: Dongre given: AR honourific: '' lineage: '' date: 2013-08-25 date_type: published datestamp: 2014-02-25 12:41:31 department: ~ dir: disk0/00/00/91/50 edit_lock_since: ~ edit_lock_until: 0 edit_lock_user: ~ editors_id: - Kakkilaya BS editors_name: - family: Kakkilaya given: Srinivas honourific: Dr lineage: '' eprint_status: archive eprintid: 9150 fileinfo: /style/images/fileicons/application_pdf.png;/9150/1/2013-2-2.pdf full_text_status: public importid: ~ institution: ~ isbn: ~ ispublished: pub issn: ~ item_issues_comment: [] item_issues_count: ~ item_issues_description: [] item_issues_id: [] item_issues_reported_by: [] item_issues_resolved_by: [] item_issues_status: [] item_issues_timestamp: [] item_issues_type: [] keywords: Growth monitoring; Anganwadi workers; Puducherry. lastmod: 2014-02-25 12:41:31 latitude: ~ longitude: ~ metadata_visibility: show note: ~ number: 2(2) pagerange: ~ pubdom: TRUE publication: Online Journal of Health and Allied Sciences publisher: Kakkilaya BS refereed: TRUE referencetext: "1.\tDepartment of Health and family welfare services.
