Computation is the manipulation of symbols they are synonomous (the
same thing).

An algorithm is the rules by which symbols are manipulated in the
computation that you are looking at.

There is no hierarchy between neural nets analogue representation and
computation. They are different theories by which to explain how
information processing is carried out by people. A further way is to
use a hybrid model that uses a combination of neural nets, analogue
representation and computation.
