It not only symbolizes the immense size of this particular ocean (and we have two more on this planet) but to me -?because of the dark blue color- it also stands for the immense unknown, terra incognita so to speak. That is exactly why I joined this course, to find out if this terra incognita became a little bit less incognita since the time (ages ago) I started my study biology.
