Laws are country or region specific right now – for example, in Scotland some seagrass meadows are protected, but some are not depending on geography and whether they sit in a protected area (MPA) or not. Part of why we want to be able to quantify exactly how much carbon is stored in these habitats and how long it is stored for is to make an argument for extending the protections further.

If not what can be done to introduce laws to protect them from overfishing etc Thanks for an informative blog.
