I do agree with you about the beauty of the combination of ancient sites and wildlife – my personal favourites include the lizards running round the ruins of the Roman forum and a praying mantis seen at Hadrian’s villa at Tivoli. Nnot to mention the sleek tortoiseshell feral cat staking out the best picnic spot overlooking the Roman forum!)
