How were barges hauled up the Tiber to Rome? Is there evidence? Bearing in mind the strong flowing current and meandering course of the river. I guess sailing is not practiable, neither is rowing, which rather leaves towing by horse,donkey, bullocks or humans.
Bringing barges down from Rome with the strong current would need some method to hold them back. If control of the barge was lost when the river was busy mayhem could be caused.

Would you be so kind to record the discussion on such a way that the sound is better. The level is too low, even if i turn it to maximum volume, i can hardly understand the discussion/ replies on the questions of the week.
This is very annoying as the subjects are most interesting.

I am having difficulty hearing the videos where Graeme and Simon are talking – I have the volume turned to high and they are still very quiet. I have not had this problem with any of the other videos.
