Tue, 07 Oct 2014 20:13:40 +0000http://moocs.southampton.ac.uk/shipwrecks/?p=347#comment-381Your ‘huri’ logboat from western India reminded me about the Dover Bronze Age Boat from 1550 BC, which I during a recent visit discovered at the Dover Museum. It measures 9,5 x 2,4 m. (as discovered). Built by four oak planks held together by oak wedges and yew stiches, Seems and stitch holes are packed with moss and beewax. No remains of rowlocks, no evidence of sail. Tops of sides and one end of the boat are missing. The Dover Boat might have transported tradegoods across the channel.
