Many folk are waiting!

We hope you enjoy it. Please comment during the course about your extensive experience underwater, it is great to hear what people have been finding, as we can all learn from each other.

I’ve owned a scuba store, dive charter boat, done commercial and a bit of scientific diving, and while I’ve dove many wrecks, I know virtually nothing about maritime archaeology. Born in NY, and now live in Washington State, USA, my mother was a British war bride so I feel a connection to the UK. Many thnx to the University of Southamption for providing this free on-line course. I look forward to learning a lot.

I took up diving a couple of years ago. This year in Kefalonia I was able to dive onto the oldest wreck so far found off the island, approximately 2800 years old. The wooden hull is covered by netting to prevent further movement absolutely fascinating. The other wreck we dived on was more modern however seeing 25mm thick steel plates buckled due to the force of the impact when it was driven onto the rocks was awesome” in the correct sense of the word, to say the least.

We’ve had 650 people fill in the survey so far – from 53 countries – and it’s already starting to show up some interesting things …
It’ll be really useful in helping us shape our blogposts and discussions over the next few weeks.
