My work in the Kinneret was land based digging at the jewish port-town of Migdal.

They take on voluntaries to dig all year round.
There is a great archaeologist working there from the Israel Antiquities Authority called Arfan Najjar.

I haven’t seen it personally as there is no diving centres in the Kinneret and I think you might need a special permit from the army to do it. Better find out before you dip into the lake.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any immediate plans to go back to Israel but I sincerely would love to. It is an amazing place.
