I suppose a wreck becomes interesting when someone becomes interested in it! That may sound like a flippant answer, but ask anyone what they think is the most interesting shipwreck in the world and the possibilities are endless. While we do know about many sites from archival records, there is always lots of learn about a site from visiting it. Even if you just better understand how a wreck is eroding, that adds to the knowledge we have on preservation in situ of sites.

So many wrecks off the coast of Australia but with ordinances and records what they hold must be already known.

Did a dive off of South Carolina last weekend, two barges and a dozen or so armoured personnel carriers. I’m wondering what the archaeology community thinks about intentionally sunk objects beyond the positive aspects from a marine biology perspective.

There is an organization here in Rhode Island that studies wrecks in the Bay, and I’ve always wanted to learn more about the subject.

I look forward to the next course starting.
