Magnetometry

Magnetometry is employed by specialists at Portus to measure localized variations in the earth’s magnetic field in the area directly beneath the position of the magnetometer.  These variations are a consequence of the buried materials themselves; for example, fired artefacts, such as brick and tile, have dramatically different signatures to major construction materials such as walls.  In particular, magnetometry provides a fast means for surveying large areas.
