Validating
Repository
Content

The objective of this project is to increase trust in the scholarly content of repositories by validating the author postprint versions of research articles that are found in repositories against the final publishers' version available from the publishers' official web site. The validation will perform three essential tasks:
  1. verify the basic facts of publication against the publication claims made in the repository metadata
  2. check for the differences between the repository version and publisher's PDF and
  3. provide a signed, digital certificate that attests to the publication of the postprint and any differences in content.
The project is split between technology and business development in a partnership between the University of Southampton (academic research) and Key Perspectives Ltd (publishing industry consultants). An associate partner from the University of Tasmania provides an international testbed for the deployment of repository trust services in Australia's recently announced research assessment processes.
