A Parallel-System Design Toolset for Vision and Image Processing

Martin Fleury and Nilufer Sarvan and Andy Downton and Adrian Clark

Abstract
This paper analyses the requirements of a toolset intended forintegrated parallel system design. Real-time, data-dominated systemsare targeted, particularly those in vision and image-processing. Aconstrained abstract model is represented based around softwarepipelines each stage of which can contain a parallel component. Thetoolset is novel in seeking to enable generalized parallelismin which the needs of the system as a whole are given priority. Thepaper describes the tool infra-structure, and reports on currentprogress on the performance prediction toolset element, includingsimulation visualizer and analytic support.
