Our other applications include medical image analysis where we have deployed our new feature extraction techniques for lung (asthma), heart (coronaries) and arterial and vascular bloodflow (arteriosclerosis) analysis. Further, our new active contour techniques have been used in the largest yet known study of cell deformation for automated cervical smear screening. With these, we are now looking at breast cancer, as this is now a major topic of interest, and of concerted study, since new computer vision techniques appear to hold the key to the solution of this analysis.
