Abstract
On November 4 the LIGO Scientific Collaboration began
observations that will last for the next 18 months. The
data from these observations will be at unprecedented
sensitivity and bandwidth and searched for binary neutron
stars and black holes, unstructured bursts, continuous
waves and stochastic background. In this talk I will
discuss the prospect for a first direct observation of
gravitational waves.
