The Race Equality Charter (REC) is an initiative from the Equality Challenge Unit that aims to improve the representation, progression and success of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) staff and students. The University of Southampton signed the REC in 2019, thus committing to address racial inequalities within the university and higher education sector. Black Asian and Minority Ethnic Staff Network, supporting and promoting academic and support staff. The group runs the BAME Buddy Scheme and advises the University on policy issues.
