Our research examines the breeding, supply, and biobanking of lab animals within the economies of biomedical science. The poster discusses the management of animal numbers. Mice are valued as resources, yet the language of value may be used differently. Saving and sharing a strain or individual can relate to economic and/or ethical concerns.
Our questions for workshop participants include:
- How would you identify and define a surplus of animals for a given project, and how would you manage it?
- What factors do you think matter most when choosing a supplier for any given animal?
- What are your thoughts on our approach so far?
