The UK’s Animals in Science Committee (ASC) recently completed its review of the processes of harm–benefit analysis (HBA) carried out under the UK Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (ASPA).
This Nature correspondence note, written by Gail Davies, who chaired the ASC review, explains the principles of this review in seeking to understand HBA as an open-ended and iterative process, which requires ongoing communication to help deliver robust and effective ethical review.
There is a free to access version of this short article in the University of Exeter repository. The full report of the ASC review of Harm-Benefit Analysis is available here.
