No doubt there will be rejection-rate differences between fields (and some of it
will be a function of sheer volume of research). But of at least as much
interest are differences in rejection-rate within fields. For, the Gaussian
Distribution of human endeavor being what it is, it seems to be a foregone
conclusion that the more rigorous a journal is in accepting only the very best
work, the higher its content quality is bound to be. How closely this correlates
with other measures, such as impact, will also be of interest.
