Just to highlight Stevan's point here: "journals" don't "go out of
business" because "journals" are not "publishing companies". They are
"products" of "publishing companies".

"Publishing companies" may "go out of business" or be taken over.
"Journals" may be started or discontinued or swap "publishing
company". Twas ever thus. Does anyone have any helpful data about the
rate of journal birth/death/migration?
