Your Word Cloud!

Good Evening MOOCers!

Just a quick update tonight, so far we have had over 500 words submitted in the “What does the ocean mean to you?” activity, it is fair to say that the most enjoyable aspect of facilitating this course so far has been the overwhelming response on the Padlet walls, we have each really enjoyed looking at the nearly 1000 pictures you have uploaded or shared with us, and it has really made it clear that the ocean means something special and unique to all of us.

The sideline to that activity has been the sharing of five words that summarise what the oceans mean to you. We created a word cloud last week by asking the PhD students here at NOCS to give us their five words, to share with you at the start of the course and we thought it would be interesting to compare the two points of view, and so have been collecting your words all week through the posts here and on Twitter (#UoSFLOceansWords). Word clouds work by giving a greater emphasis to the words used the most often, so the biggest words on here have been suggested the most.

Here is a sneak peak, it isn’t finished yet, how do you think it should look? Can you suggest an image to use, a colour scheme or even better: More words!

You can submit your words right up until monday, when the week two resources will be out, and you will all be getting stuck into some new materials!
