The 45th Annual Meeting of the British Association for Applied Linguistics (BAAL) will be addressing the multilingual theory and practice in applied linguistics.
The conference is being organised by the Centre for Applied Language Research, University of Southampton and Modern Languages, University of Southampton.

BAAL offers 10 UK scholarships, one international scholarship and one Chris Brumfit scholarship for international delegates. The UK scholarship winners will have their registration fee and two nights accommodation paid for while the two International scholarship winners will have their registration, accommodation and travel paid for. Candidates wishing to apply for the scholarships should submit an abstract via conftool and then complete one of the application forms below explaining why you are applying and load the word document into conftool with your abstract submission.

Unfortunately we are not able to offer double or twin rooms, but we would suggest you try the Highfield House Hotel, Portswood, Southampton. This hotel is very near the Highfield Campus, University of Southampton and has agreed to offer a rate of £75.00 per night including breakfast for a double or twin room for delegates to this conference. This includes VAT. You will need to book this independently using this form here and send to them at : res@highfieldhousehotel.co.uk asap. PLEASE NOTE that rooms are subject to availability and payment is required on arrival.

Cancellations must be made in writing to Sue Nash, Modern Languages, University of Southampton.
- Cancellations made 2 months (up to and including Thursday 5 July 2012) before the conference will receive a full refund minus £30 admin fee.
- Cancellations made between 3 weeks and 2 months (between Friday 6 July 2012 and Wednesday 15 August 2012) before the conference will receive a refund of 50% of the registration fee minus £30 admin fee.
- Cancellations made under 3 weeks (from Thursday 16 August 2012 onwards) before the conference will not receive a refund.
