Teaching in higher education through the medium of English

This is a five-day course designed for academics in universities across the world whose first language is not English and who are delivering degree programmes and presenting research through the medium of English.
Key areas to be covered during the course are
- Using English in the lecture theatre and the seminar room
- Supporting the language needs of your international students
- Giving papers and presentations at conferences
- Raising your profile through English
- Building your confidence to deliver through English
Each day of the course will include at least five hours contact time with experienced tutors in the field of English as a Medium of Instruction. Participants will work on presentation skills, socialising skills, using e learning to improve your English and be given the exercises to improve their listening skills. There will be opportunities for 1:1 tutorials and private study throughout the course. During the week there will be a guest lecture from an academic at the University of Southampton.
The course will be delivered by staff working in the field of English as a medium of instruction (EMI) and will consist of presentations, discussion, group work and individual support.
Minimum entry requirements: good intermediate level of English (eg CEFR B2 or equivalent)

Fees
- There is a course fee of £1,150 to attend.
- This fee includes hotel (bed and breakfast) accommodation for 6 nights (Arrive 17 June to depart 23 June 2012 inclusive) and a minimum of 25 hours class time.

Cancellation charges will apply:
- 90% refund of registration fee where cancellation is received in writing one month or more before the commencement of the course.
- 50% refund of registration fee where cancellation received in writing by Friday 1 June 2012.
- No refund will be given if cancellation is given from Saturday 2 June 2012 onwards
