SUBJECT CENTRE EVENTS

1. FOUNDATION DEGREES IN LANGUAGES, LINGUISTICS AND AREA STUDIES

Open Meeting on 11 July 2003 at the British Academy, London
The Subject Centre is holding an Open Meeting to discuss the implications of Foundation Degrees in Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies. This will take place on 11 July 2003 at the British Academy in London, commencing at 10.45 am. If you wish to join this meeting please email Sue Nash (llas@soton.ac.uk) by Monday 7 July 2003.

2. OPENING AN UMBRELLA FOR THE AREA STUDIES COMMUNITY

5 November 2003, CILT, London

The first issue of ATLAS: the bulletin of the Area Studies Project has now been printed. 4. LLAS NOTES

The Subject Centre Notebook will soon be published. In addition to the updated "Why Study Languages" CD, with new presentations on linguistics and area studies, it will include up-to-date statistics on secondary-level examination entries and 2002 student numbers with an explanation of the new UCAS course codes. 5. THE CAMBRIDGE SEMINAR ON EXTERNAL EXAMINING: QUALITY AND PRACTICE
