Frameworks for Collaboration and Multilingualism Conference

6-7 July 2016, University of Warwick

REGISTRATION ENDS ON 30 JUNE

The eighth biennial joint LLAS, UCML and AULC conference aims to bring together language practitioners from Secondary, Higher, and Further Education to celebrate language collaborations and innovations across the sector.

The conference is centred on the development of partnerships and frameworks that have formed between individuals or institutions who are continuing to work on bringing languages to the fore.  As a response to challenging times in which our strategically important, yet vulnerable, subjects continue to feel the strain of falling student numbers, instigating innovative collaborations and teaching practices has indeed become of strategic importance in the re-framing of language learning at all levels.

Keynote speakers will include:

Professor Wendy Ayres-Bennett, University of Cambridge
Professor Michael Kelly, University of Southampton
René Koglbauer, Newcastle University

Speakers at our "TEF (Teaching Excellence Framework) Panel" will include:

CHAIR: Dr John Canning, Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Learning and Teaching at the University of Brighton
Jocelyn Wyburd, Director of the Language Centre at the University of Cambridge, Chair of the University Council of Modern Languages
Charlie Hindhaugh, Warwick Students’ Union Education Officer
Dr Ben Brabon, Academic Lead – Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences, Higher Education Academy

You can download the full programme here.

Registration and further information can be found at : https://www.llas.ac.uk/conf2016

Good bye to Professor Michael Kelly:

After many active years spent in the language world, Professor Michael Kelly is retiring at the end of this academic year. This conference is an opportunity to say thank you and good luck with his future endeavours. We are putting together a memory book that will be presented to him at the conference. If you want to write a message to Mike to be included in the memory book, you can write it via a survey and it will be transferred to the book in time for the conference. The link to the survey is: https://www.isurvey.soton.ac.uk/20604
