Report on Multimedia Language Learning in Higher Education in the UK

Language teachers in UK Higher Education are generally technologically literate, and many institutions seem to be well endowed with a range of technologies including multimedia language labs, according to a study initiated by the Centre for Excellence in Multimedia Language Learning (CEMLL) at the University of Ulster.

However, there is clear evidence to suggest that existing multimedia labs are not being used to their full potential as state-of-the-art teaching facilities. A questionnaire designed by staff at the University of Ulster in collaboration with the Subject Centre for Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies, produced interesting findings.
