Celebrate the success of the Language Box... and win £1000 worth of prizes!

The work of the Faroes project is coming to an end - to be taken forward in a new project (OneShare). To celebrate the hard work and help of the language-teaching community in helping us to develop the Language Box, the project are running a competition with £1000 worth of prizes to be won!

How can I win?

Faroes Project: The Language Box

All you need to do is: upload a collection of 12 or more resources to the Language Box and make them available for long term public access

Your collection should be:

  • Uploaded to http://languagebox.eprints.org (you will need to register on the site and create a profile)
  • made up of ANY resources that could be used in language learning and teaching, e.g. video, audio, text, image, useful links
  • presented within Language Box as a ‘collection’ under a unifying theme e.g. Images of Spain; academic writing in English; Greek festivals; stylistics – semester one
  • copyright cleared
  • tagged appropriately with as many tags as necessary

Collections (and resources within the collection) will be judged on the following criteria:

  • originality and imagination
  • use of a variety of different media
  • potential for repurposing in different learning contexts
  • meaningful and coherent composition of the collection
  • quality of resources e.g. technical quality of video/image/text

Prizes

First prize: £500
Second Prize: £300
Third prize: £200

Submissions

Collections should be uploaded by 8th May, 2009. Go to Language Box website to find out more about how to submit your resources.

Collections will be shortlisted by the project team and members of the language teaching community will vote for the winning entry via an online voting system. Winners will be announced on 27th May, at the next Faroes workshop, at Portsmouth University.
