News summary

Many congratulations to Professor Mike Kelly (Director of the Subject Centre for Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies) who has been invited to become an Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Linguists in recognition of his contribution to raising the profile of language learning.

The Institute serves the interests of professional linguists throughout the world and is a recognised language assessment and awarding organisation. It has created a small number of Honorary Fellowships to mark the centenary of its foundation in 1910. The Fellowships were awarded by HRH Prince Michael of Kent at a reception on the 9th November.

Well done, Mike. This is a huge and wholly deserved mark of esteem, and we are delighted to be able to celebrate your success.

Best wishes
