BOOKING NOW AVAILABLE

Friday 30th September, 9.00am-5pm

Join English PEN and other leading translation organisations for a full day of events focused on literary translation. We’re excited to announce that the provisional programme for International Translation Day is now available. You’ll find the programme attached to this email.

We’ll be launching a new report, Taking Flight: New Thinking on World Writing, the latest publication from the Global Translation Initiative which features essays from professionals like Olivia Sears, Maureen Freely and Peter Stothard, that declare the value of literary translation. We’ll also be taking a closer look at projects and initiatives that have developed since last year’s symposium and have a series of afternoon workshops for you to choose from; so make sure you come with your thoughts, opinions and questions (see programme for details).

The ITD symposium is a space for all those interested in the business of literary translation to network, share ideas and take these important debates forward. This year, speakers include Sioned Rowlands, Michael Kelly, Jane Aitken, Sarah Ardizzone and Charles Hazlewood.

You can also book tickets at half price for the International Translation Day ‘evening special’ with Ahdaf Soueif and Amanda Hopkinson. Tickets are also available online, see event details here.

Tickets: Full day entry £20; £10 concessions, including light lunch and refreshments
