Open Educational Resources 3 : The FAVOR Project

News summary

LLAS has been funded by JISC to lead The FAVOR project (Finding a voice through open resources). This project will showcase the excellent and often unrecognised work of part-time language tutors in HE and engage them in publishing open resources and creating activities designed to enhance the student experience.

The project will showcase the excellent and often unrecognised work of part-time, hourly-paid language teachers in HE; demonstrate the contribution such teachers make to academic culture and the learning experience offered by their institutions; and also engage them in activities which will enhance the student experience.

Tutors will publish a significant number of teaching resources as open content, and create a suite of new OERs designed to assist prospective students in understanding the nature of language study at HE level. Language tutors are front line staff who deal with new students and so are ideally placed to understand their needs, expectations and challenges in the transition to HE.

Outputs will be disseminated to schools and evaluated by prospective and existing students and will contribute to the national agenda for the promotion and support of language learning.

LLAS will be working in partnership with SOAS, Aston, UCL, Southampton and Newcastle Universities.
