LHCb is the dedicated flavour physics experiment at the LHC. Significant results have been obtained in the areas of CP violation, rare decays and spectroscopy using the range of beauty and charm hadrons. Highlights of the physics results from LHC Run I and the performance of the experiment are described. A new CP violation Dalitz plot analysis of D->pi pi pi0 is described. The plans for the next generation (LHCb upgrade) experiment are given.
