Title:
Background independence in a background dependent renormalization group
Abstract:
Background independence is an important ingredient in a theory of quantum gravity. However, the requirement of background independence can be in conflict with the existence of key renormalization group (RG) properties such as fixed points. I will discuss how this problem arises within conformally reduced gravity and the conditions necessary to recover fixed points as well as a background independent description of the RG flow.
