To achieve this each step has the following directories, and hence components associated with it;

Warnings (W)

COSHH warnings, ‘File save’ warnings, Duplicate Name Warnings etc. Different symbols are used according to the nature of the warning.

Background (B)

Short details as to why certain and tasks are included and consequences of previous errors.

Internal Inputs  (II)

Data File for selection to Application (Templates) e.g. documents in progress, schemas.

External Input (EI)

Tasks / Files / Remote process control

Previous Step (PS)

Previous step Subtask if one exists or main process step. The latter can otherwise be accessed via the Project Timeline

Processes  Detail (P)

Instructions checklist for step

Review Authority (RA)

Instructions checklist for step to complete any necessary external documents.

Next Step (NS)

This directs the user to the next step or sub step in the process

Education (E)

The history of the ORBS project is deeply rooted in the concept of life long learning. To this end, and as a part of Continuing professional development process, it is vital to access help files and supporting educational material for new users who may not be familiar with the environment or concepts

Governance (G)

Most if not all projects now include a degree of internal audit – even audit projects! To this end it is an instrument To monitor the success of the project and acts as a Governance tool. To facilitate this it is necessary to request the user to complete documentation or forms associated with this and so these will be highlighted as the user progresses through the separate steps

Internal Outputs  (IO)

Data Files for selection to output  e.g. documents completed

External Outputs  (EO)

Data Files for selection to output and completed including checklists

Project Timeline (PT)

This is a monitor of how far along the path to completion of the project the team is. It may also be used to jump back to a main step of the project

Legal Notices (L)

Each document will have caveats and notices of Licence agreements which are linked from this part of the page

This allows for the establishment of subtasks whilst still maintaining the time line. Users will of course have to complete various internal and external duties as they progress through the process and this is usually a series of questions or forms to complete. They need to be notified about these and some are important, others essential. Sometimes it may not be possible to do so in sequence and so it is possible to complete these asynchronously and out of sequence, to facilitate data entry.
