Arrival Information

The conference will be held in the West Downs Centre of the University of Winchester, see here for a map. Directions to the West Downs Campus can be found here.

The conference accommodation is part of the Queens Road complex shown on this map, and is located within walking distance of the conference venue (on the other side of Romsey Road). A plan of the Queens Road complex is available here.

Key collection

Upon arrival, your key can be collected from the West Downs Campus as detailed below.

Saturday 27th August: Your key will be with the site steward on the West Downs campus - available any time after 14.00hrs. The site steward's office is marked with a * on this map. Security is available 24 hours, therefore arrival time is not important.

Sunday 28th August: Your key will be available for collection from the reception desk in the West Downs Centre (Winchester Business School on all maps), between 14.00hrs - 21.00hrs. After 21.00hrs, keys will be with the site steward at West Downs, and again are available 24 hours, should people be arriving late.

Monday 29th August: Your key will be available for collection from the reception desk in the West Downs Centre (Winchester Business School on all maps), between 14.00hrs - 20.00hrs. After 20.00hrs, keys will be with the site steward at West Downs, and again are available 24 hours, should people be arriving late.

Any additional arrivals during the rest of the week will also be able to collect their keys from the reception desk in the West Downs centre, or if this is closed, from the site steward's office.

Friday 2nd September: People arriving for the IFIP working group meeting will be able to collect their keys from the West Downs reception between 14.00 - 20.00hrs.

Accommodation

All of the bedrooms are en-suite, with a shower, toilet and wash hand basin. Bed linen and a medium sized towel are provided, as well as basic soap/shampoo. Hairdryers, alarm clocks, televisions etc are not provided. The accommodation is divided into flats of 5 - 9 bedrooms, and each flat has a kitchen, with tea/coffee making facilities, fridge, microwave, seating area, iron and iron board.

Check out is by 10.00am on the morning of departure, and keys must be returned to the reception desk or site steward. Lost or unreturned keys are charged at £30.00 per key.

Breakfast

Breakfast will be served between 08.00 - 09.00hrs each morning in the West Downs Shakespeare Room, located in the main building.

Informal get-together on Sunday 28th August

On Sunday evening, there will be an informal get-together in the St James Tavern, from 7pm. This pub is within walking distance from the University and they serve food until 9pm. The address is: 3 Romsey Road, Winchester, Hampshire, SO22 5BE. To get there, head out of the accommodation back up Queen's Road towards the West Downs Centre (conference venue). When you reach the main road (Romsey Road), turn right by the County Arms and head down the hill towards the city centre. The St James Tavern is on the right just before the bridge over the railway line.

CALCO-Jnr barbecue

CALCO-Jnr participants are invited to attend a barbecue on Monday 29th of August, from 18.00hrs. This will be held in the West Downs Centre. Participants to the main conference arriving on Monday evening are welcome to join for a drink from 19.00hrs onwards.

Welcome reception

A reception for CALCO and CALCO-Tools participants will be held in the West Downs Centre on Tuesday 30th August, from 18:00hrs.

Social programme

The social programme on Thursday afternoon will consist of a tour of Winchester College and the City of Winchester (14.30-17.30), and a conference banquet in the Winchester Guildhall starting at 19.00hrs.

Internet access

Internet access accounts will be provided in the conference packs. This will allow wired internet access from the Queens Road accommodation, as well as wireless internet access in the West Downs Centre. In order access the internet from within the accommodation, please bring your own network cable. People who require internet access on Sunday evening should request this when collecting their key.
