As this song is about when Che Guevara died, I wanted it to touch people’s emotions and make them cry. Musically this was done by using a minor key. I also used orchestral instruments – mainly violins (from logic pro) as they have a good tone to express sadness. I added low Cellos for the darkest parts of the song. I kept it in ‘verse-chorus’ form. I used lots of dynamic (volume) changes to convey the up and downs in emotion. The piece is legato (long held notes) – under 120bpm. The first verse and chorus is sung by Fidel, and then Celia joins in for the second verse and chorus. Raul joins in for the third verse and chorus. After that everyone joins in and the volume swells and increases towards the end as everyone sings the final chorus together.
