Preserv Wiki

Welcome to the Preserv wiki where we will be mostly adding in development APIs and specifications.

The Preserv Test and Evaluation Datasets

Based upon earlier work done by the Preserv project we will be using the ROAR service [[1]] to help construct our test datasets. These datasets will be of 2 types:

  • A 1000 item dataset which represents a typical repository (the file types which are contained within)
  • A selection of files from 10+ specific repositories chosen for diversity. The results from which can be compared to specific characteristics of those repositories.

Written in Java this small application emulates the soon to be released functionality of the next version of The National Archives (UK) Pronom technical registry. If the function you request already exists and is release it will redirect your request to that live service. It is recommended that you keep this software up to date.
