Our history dates from 1947, when Professor Eric Zepler founded the Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Radio Engineering.

Eric Zepler and the History of the Department of Electronics

Through these pages we aim to publish memoirs by many of the people who worked as staff or students in the Department of Electronics in their younger days. We start chronologically with contributions by Professor Greville Bloodworth, who was taught by Eric Zepler and later worked with him, and by Professor Geoffrey Sims who succeeded him as Head of Department. Also Professor Chris Rice has written about Eric Zepler’s work in the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research after he retired from the Department of Electronics.
