I am really enjoying fabricating nanoscale devices in the cleanrooms and I have been networking with researchers from well-known facilities.

Every day of research is a world-first, I am witnessing confidential engineering work on a daily basis.

The biggest strength of my course is that it allows me the freedom to run my project myself but with expert guidance. I get to bounce ideas around a room full of specialist academics, which is fantastic and I feel so well supported.

The University is also very strong at helping graduates find jobs. ECS holds an annual careers fair that attracts lots of famous companies.

Southampton has one of the premier cleanrooms in Europe, which enabled me to carry out cutting-edge experiments and generate novel results. The university also has world-leading researchers and academics to guide the way and an international reputation.

I really enjoy the challenge of working at the frontier of human knowledge.

My supervisors both on my BEng and my PhD were excellent in their fields and this raises the expectations from their students. If you are choosing Computer Science I wouldn’t know a better place to study than Southampton.
