Medical Imaging

[Finding an artery]

Medical imaging has proved an exciting and challenging research area for our new feature extraction techniques. In the past, we mainly worked on static images whereas we now most frequently work on moving objects in image sequences.

We have developed new techniques in low-level vision for image filtering and estimation of edge features. Our higher level work has concerned objects, such as pulsating arteries and moving spines. We have also developed techniques which analyse MRI vocal tract data, ultrasound image data, PET tracer data, videofluoroscopic spinal data, usually in tandem with local hospitals.
