Language World is the annual conference and exhibition of the Association for Language Learning. It is one of the major events of the language teaching calendar and provides excellent professional development and networking opportunities. It brings together practitioners from across the language teaching world - policy and decision makers, teachers, advisers, teacher trainers, PGCE students, materials writers, publishers, information specialists. The conference theme will be Pulling the Threads Together: the conference will give us the chance to describe some of these threads and to suggest ways to pull them together to create strong and sustainable outcomes, resulting in really effective learning. The Subject Centre is setting up a project to support new staff in linguistics through an e-mentoring scheme. The scheme aims to put new staff in contact with academics with expertise in their field in order to provide advice, support and teaching tips for new staff.

The third e-learning symposium organised by the Subject Centre brought together practitioners from a wide range of disciplines and institutions. The videos and powerpoints of presentations from the event are available.
LLAS Forum: the place to discuss teaching and learning issues within the LLAS community.
CILT, the National Centre for Languages manages a programme called Business Language Champions. Its aim is to bring schools and workplaces, teachers, students and employers together to undertake activities which show the relevance of languages to the world of work and increase the understanding of employers of the language capabilities of students. The aim of the evaluation is to assess the impact of the BLC programme in participating schools from April 2006-March 2007. For further information contact: peter.barron@cilt.org.uk
