Scottish CILT

Following the success of Communicate.06, Scottish CILT and Learning and Teaching Scotland are organising a second conference on teaching languages with ICT on Saturday 17 March 2007. In conjunction with these two bodies, the Subject Centre is offering a seminar on the HE perspective the previous day, Friday, 16 March 2007.

The aims of the Communicate.07 are to continue developing the use of ICT in languages teaching, and to show how teaching strategies can be enhanced by the use of ICT.

Presentations and workshop activities on 17 March will include:

  • the use of mobile phone technology to develop listening skills in class;
  • podcasting - what podcasting is and how to make podcasts;
  • interactive whiteboards - how real interaction can take place with an interactive whiteboard;
  • GLOW - what it is and how it can be used;
  • video-conferencing - linking schools in Scotland with schools abroad by video and other electronic links;
  • how one department has taken forward ICT since Communicate.06

The closing date for applications is Friday, 2 March 2007. The cost of the seminar on 16 March is £60.00 including coffee, lunch and afternoon tea. There is no additional charge for attendance on the Saturday.
