Centre for Information on Languages Teaching and Research (CILT Cymru) Centre for Galician Studies in Wales, University of Wales Bangor The Subject Centre for Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies

This conference takes place at a time where the traditional approach to learning major European tongues is in crisis. However, we are increasingly aware of the diversity of languages and cultures thriving on the UK. A growing interest in less widely taught languages provides an opportunity to help redefine the linguistic ethos of UK universities and schools.

The programme is designed primarily to interest colleagues in departments:

  • specialising in less widely taught languages
  • already offering or thinking of adding one or more of these languages as parts of degrees
  • of Welsh
  • of Linguistics
  • of Area Studies

The conference is organised by the Centre for Galician Studies in Wales, University of Wales Bangor, the Subject Centre for Languages Linguistics and Area Studies (LLAS), and the Centre for Information on Languages Teaching and Research (CILT Cymru).
