The workshop will explore how the semantic aspect of glossary production becomes a means, putting both interpreter and translator in charge of the language they use. The aim will be to show how terms can be glossed, sources and expertise found and how to check and verify glossaries. Linked to terminology as a discipline, monolingual glossary production is most widely used commercially in relation to product defintion and marketing. As such it is an end in itself, and of great significance to international trade when translation questions arise. There are also many non-commercial aspects to glossary production and good glossary writers are in demand in areas as diverse as local government, charities and the health sector.
This event is organised under the Subject Centre's Workshops to go scheme.
Workshop fee
Please note there is no charge for this event but we reserve the right to charge a £20.00 non-attendance fee.
